Géraud de Pépieux formerly was called Vin des Cathares, is the symbolic wine of the Hillsides of Minervois under the naming AOP Minervois.Red wine well-rounded, silky tannins. To use to a temperature from 15 to 17 °C to accompany by the game, stew, red meats and cheeses.

We find in this wine the character and the strength of Cathars, but also the balance and the relaxed rhythm of life in our beautiful region which offers a multitude of aromas.

Origin of the name of the cuvee

This name comes from commander Géraud who was a leader of an Of "Albigeois" troop having defended the castle of Minerve during the crusade in 1210. Main Lord Cathares did not want to submit themselves to new suzerain Simon de Montfort. The resistance gets organized around some real fortresses which counts the country. The city of Minerve, which defends itself piercingly, but which surrenders at the end of 5 weeks because of the lack of water.


70% Syrah, 30% Grenache.

Type of vinification

Traditional maceration with control of temperatures. 20 days of maceration for the syrah and 7 days for the grenache. 1/3 of the wine is raised in oak barrel during 10 months.

Food pairing

This wine go with simple dishes but also with cold meats or tapas.

The opinion of the wine steward

Wine of character and complex, I would accompagne the Géraud de Pépieux to a grilled meat accompanied with a salad your taste, for summer, and to a filet mignon for a more wintry dish. Made you pleasure and to dry this wine with an assortment of cheeses.


To serve to temperature of 15 in 17°C, has to keep during 5 years maximum.
